This is one of the two buildings that house the island fire trucks. The other is located on the east side of the island. Neither is manned. The island is protected by a volunteer department of twenty dedicated men. You can easily recognize the firemen by the radios and pagers they have strapped to their hips and the red flashers in their cars and trucks. Please keep in mind that the same rules apply here as on the mainland: if you see/hear the sirens please pull to the side of the road so the emergency vehicles can get to where they need to be. |
