Now what happens if someone on the island gets sick or hurt? Beaver Island now has a brand new health center. The Beaver Island Rural Health Center offers residents and visitors alike two full-time Family Nurse Practitioners who are on duty 24 hours and twice a month a doctor flies over to the island from the mainland. The island also has a full time resident dentist whose office is on the far right end of the building. For emergencies the island has a full EMS staff including two ambulances and an emergency vehicle. EMS is dispatched where needed via a call to 911.
